Tracks of a Wandering Mind

Poetry, stories and random thoughts from a wandering mind.

Autumn Scenes

(Three tankas for fall.)

A gray sky today,
A cold wind stripping the trees
Brings a hint of snow.
The fields are barren and brown,
The land, drowsy, now resting.

Costumed children laugh,
Running from this door to that,
They await your choice.
Shall it now be tricks or treats
To bribe from gentle malice?

First fall of snow
And the smells of Thanksgiving
Draw us together.
Old conflicts forgotten now,
For a day of peace at hand.

  1. So very calming. The Midwest has all four seasons..each of which has their own beauty. I love this poem….a time to settle back and hunker down for a beautiful winter.
