Tracks of a Wandering Mind

Poetry, stories and random thoughts from a wandering mind.

Life Too Fast

Why do we stop and smell the roses,
Or walk out in the rain?
Why take time out for those moments
That might help to stop the pain?

We live our lives so rapidly,
That we forget to stop,
And relive pleasures from the past,
Rather than race the clock?

When did we last look at our lives
And pause to realize,
That cherished moments slipped on by
While we rushed through our time?

Each small pleasure that we forgo,
We may not see again,
And time is shorter than we know,
So just slow down my friend.

  1. One looks back at their life and realizes that we make time for the important things, husband, kids, and smelling roses.

  2. Sometimes I sit on the back porch at 4am. Coffee in hand, horses in the pasture, dogs on my lap. That’s when I slow down and take time for all the moments in my life in review. And I am reminded to live in the moment that day. Thank you for the beautifully written reminder.
