Tracks of a Wandering Mind

Poetry, stories and random thoughts from a wandering mind.

Sonnet of Music

Working on my skill at composing sonnets. (I still need work!)

Rhythm within the mind that leads to rest,
Song and verse to please the harried spirit,
The poet and the troubadour twice bless’d,
To ease the life of those who else fear it.

Blessing at the setting of life’s shining,
Bringing comfort to a heart grievous ill,
Music clears away the cobwebs blinding
And eases passage of the tears that heal.

‘Tis gentle comfort to a newborn babe,
From mothers’ voices sung a thousand times,
Easing way from the cradle to the grave,
Blessing life with such simple metered rhymes.

Blessed richness for my life is the choice
Of rhyme and song that make up music’s voice.

  1. Very good sonnet, good thoughts, a well-knit piece.
