Tracks of a Wandering Mind

Poetry, stories and random thoughts from a wandering mind.

Songs of Solace

I was sitting listening to the night sounds and felt totally at peace for once. This was the result.

Sweet, silent sleep and gentle dreams,
Night’s cool breeze and the rustling leaves,
Warm summer rains brushing the trees,
Colt’s silken touch kissing your cheeks.

Old musty books many times read,
Scents of hot coffee, fresh warm bread,
Laughing delight, in child’s play led,
Long lazy morn lying in bed.

Late night shrill and clank of the train,
Oft sung song’s familiar refrain,
Scents of earth in a field of grain,
Solace in life where these songs reign.
